Rakhi History and Importance:
Raksha Bandhan 2019 festival has been celebrated from the ancient times in India, Here are the tales behind Rakhi celebrations.
According to a legend in the holy book ‘Mahabharat‘, Once Lord Krishna was flying kites and accidentally cut his finger with the abrasive twine.
Draupadi, who was standing near to Krishna, saw him bleeding copiously and rushed to him. She tore a piece of her saree and tied it around the injury.
Lord Krishna was so touched by her concern towards him. He promised her that he will protect her forever from all the evil. As promised, he protected her especially from the Kauravas evil act ‘cheer Haran‘.
Another Rakhi story is from the battle between Alexander and Porus.
Alexander was a Greek king and Porus was a Hindu King. Alexander’s wife sent a holy thread to Porus, requesting him to not harm her husband during battle.
Giving respect to Rakhi, Porus tied it around his wrist. In the battleground, when he was about to aim his arrow at Alexander, he noticed Rakhi on his and stopped from doing so.
